Abstract
This study was performed to investigate the effect of Shihosogansan chi the gastric ulceration and the plasma catecholamine contents of rats in immobilization stress.

The experimental animals was stressed by immobilization for 12 hours in a day during 12 days and administrated 45§·/44g Shihosogansan extract two times per a day before and after the immobilization stress. Then the plasma catecholamine contents and the number of gastric ulceration were measured.

The obtained results were summarized as follows ;

1. Analgesic effect was shown significantly in sample group compared with control group.

2. Anti-inflammatory effect was shown significantly in sample group compared with control group.

3. Gastic ulceration was decreased significantly in sample group compared with control group.

4. Epinephrine contents was decreased significantly in sample group compared with control group.

5. Norepinephrine contents was decreased significantly in sample group compared with control group.

6. Dopamine contents was decreased significantly in sample group compared with control group.

According to the above results, it is concluded that Shihosogansan has significant effect in reducing stress.
